Samuel Onyeme, 17, was reportedly assaulted and imprisoned in a dog cage on Sunday for going to see a friend.
Around 6:00 p.m., Onyeme paid a visit to his female classmate at her home, which was when the incident occurred. On Monday, Mrs. Onyeme, the victim’s mother, told our correspondent that she had a better experience at Mr. Celestine’s place.
At the invitation of his classmate Anastasia Celestine, my 17-year-old son Samuel, a Senior Secondary student at Redeemers International High School in Asaba, Delta State, paid her a visit at her home on Sunday,” she added.
According to my son, her father and his two kids viciously attacked him when they were outside Mr. Celestine’s house having a conversation.
They pulled him into their compound, attacked him on the street, and seriously injured him.
He claimed they locked him in a dog cage with wooden planks, as you can see from his head.
They took away his cell phone during the assault and called me, his mother, to trick me into attending the scene.
I was denied the opportunity to visit him for two hours after I arrived. She claimed that when her daughter, Jessica, attempted to re-enter the compound while outside trying to get assistance, she was also attacked by Celestine family members.
When Ben, my other son and Samuel’s older brother, called a family friend, who in turn contacted a human rights organization before calling the police, things became more heated.
At around ten o’clock that evening, cops were called to free Samuel from the dog cage.
Mr. Victor Ojei, a human rights activist who reported the event to the Delta State Police Command on Tuesday, went on to say that he activated the police prior to Samuel being freed from the dog cage and called the act cruel and horrific.
In a petition to the Commissioner of Police at Delta State Police Command, Ojei called for an immediate investigation and prosecution of Mr. Celestine and his sons for attempted murder, assault, unlawful detention, and kidnapping in accordance with the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Laws and Nigerian Criminal Law.
Justice was demanded in the petition, which was copied to the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission in Asaba, Delta State, and the Attorney General of the Ministry of Justice in Asaba, Delta State. After getting in touch with a family friend, Onyeme Ben contacted our organization.

Section 355 of the Criminal Code Act was broken when Master Onyeme Samuel was brutally attacked with wooden planks, causing numerous injuries and psychological distress.
Section 320 of the Criminal Code Act defines attempted murder as threats to pour fuel and set Master Onyeme Samuel on fire.It was discovered that Samuel, the victim, is presently undergoing therapy at the Asaba Specialist Hospital due to the psychological and bodily harm he sustained during the incident. When contacted, SP Bright Edafe, the state’s police public relations officer, stated that he had not yet received the incident report at the time this report was filled up.
