THE presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, has promised Nigerians in the Northern region that he will change the region through agriculture if he is elected as the president of Nigeria in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The former Anambra governor made this vow on Friday during a virtual meeting with LP support groups.
In his words “I am going to change the region. We need to cultivate arable land there; respected Nigerians from the North have ruled this country but the ten poorest states are from the region.”
He also noted that the reason why he wishes to turn attention to the North is because of the bountiful resources and potentials that can be found there, which are yet to be utilized.
“Our economic problems arising from poor leadership do not discriminate on the basis of religion or tribe.”
“There is nowhere in Nigeria where a person buys cheaper bread because he is a Muslim or a Christian,” Peter Obi said.
He also charged Nigerians to vote for him or any other candidates without any form of ethnic or religious preference, while stressing that he is the most qualified candidate for the presidential seat, owing to his achievements as a former governor of Anambra State.
“I am the only governor in Nigerian history who finished eight years, left money, built infrastructure, owed no contractor, salary or pension,” Peter Obi said.
