Although today was set aside to celebrate the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary of Nigeria, most states in the country went out in their numbers to march in support for their presidential candidates in the upcoming 2023 general elections.
One of such occasions was the 4 million man march in Lagos for the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Gregory Obi, where his supporters, popularly called ‘Obidients’ took to the streets of Lagos in a rally to show supports for their candidate.
According to verified reports, the 4 million man walk in Lagos kicked off at 7am on Saturday with supporters marching out from Ibeju Lekki through the ever-busy streets of Lagos.
Beating the busy traffics of Lagos, Obidients moved from Ibeju Lekki to Ajah, where they were greeted by a dead-trapped traffic, causing them to go alight from their buses in the thick traffic.
While on the walk, Obidients could be seen interacting with passerbys and onlookers, in a bid to intimate them to support the presidential ambition of Peter Obi.
From Ajah, to VGC to Jakunde and on to Ikate in Lagos, Obidients kept chanting the name of their candidate as they entered other parts of Lagos Island.
The rally which started by 7am in the morning lasted for about 8 hours.
Some of the supporters expressed their delight in the rally and the presidential ambition of Peter Obi.
“I started my rally at Jakunde and it is indeed a peace walk and a campaign walk for our Peter Obi. We are tired of suffering, we need a change and we see that change in Peter Obi, so that is why am here today, I wasn’t paid to come here, I came here with my own money, we are doing this so we can enjoy later,” one of the supporters said.
Another Obidient said: “ I started my rally from Ibeju Lekki, from the refinary down to Lekki here, we walked, we trekked, and I am not tired, let me suffer today, so my children can enjoy tomorrow.”
