Most successful Turkish club in European competitions Galatasaray have reached an agreement in principle with Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli over a loan deal for Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.
It is a One year loan, salary-covered deal as Napoli has accepted to meet these conditions.
Gala’s delegation is set to meet with Osimhen in Napoli in the next hours for the final green light to the move.
On a twitter post, someone commented. A reminder of what Jose Mourinho said about Victor Osimhen in 2022
“I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money. Osimhen is a lot like Drogba, he’s on Drogba’s level.”
WHO IS OSIMHEN?
Victor Osimhen is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national team. He was born on December 29, 1998, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Osimhen began his career at Ultimate Strikers Academy in Nigeria before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in Germany in 2017. He later joined Charleroi in Belgium on loan, where he impressed and earned a move to Lille in France in 2019.
In 2020, Osimhen signed with Napoli for a club-record fee of €70 million, becoming one of the most expensive African players in history. He has since established himself as a key player for the club, known for his pace, skill, and goal-scoring ability.
At the international level, Osimhen has represented Nigeria since 2017, earning over 20 caps and scoring several goals. He has also played at the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Osimhen is considered one of the most promising young strikers in world football, with his performances attracting attention from top clubs and earning him numerous individual awards and accolades.
The Nigerian international club was unable to complete a transfer deal to Chelsea just before the transfer window in England closed and subsequently missed out on a move to Saudi Arabian team, Al-Hilal.
As per football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, “Napoli have accepted a straight loan proposal but with no option to buy, and Galatasaray to cover about £10m of his salary.”
It now remains to be seen if Osimhen would give the green light to the move.
“Napoli has confirmed that Victor Osimhen will not rejoin the team after a failed transfer attempt. The Nigerian striker wanted to leave, but his expected move to Chelsea didn’t materialize. Meanwhile, Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia showed interest, and a deal was almost reached, but Napoli’s last-minute demand for an additional €5 million (on top of the agreed €80 million) caused the transfer to collapse, leaving Osimhen’s future uncertain.”
“Osimhen’s transfer saga ends with no move to Chelsea or Al-Ahli, and Napoli confirms he won’t rejoin the squad.”
“Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, has made it clear that Victor Osimhen is no longer a part of the team’s plans. After their recent win against Parma, Conte emphasized that once a player is no longer part of the project, they will not be brought back. The club has made its decisions and is moving forward in a unified direction, without exceptions.”
