The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday, 2th June, 2022 expressed their optimism about the ongoing meeting with Professor Briggs Committee, describing the ongoing negotiations as a progressive one.
While speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, the National President of the union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke said that the union has been in negotiations with the Briggs Committee since last week. In his words: “We are meeting soon; we are having a follow-up, we don’t publicise our meetings, we want to do it quietly and then tell the public about our decisions,” Osodeke said in the interview.
However, is it also reported that Ahmed Isah of Human Rights Radio also known as Brekete Family TV had earlier this week announced his bid to help the federal government raise N18billion for ASUU within a period of two weeks. He kicked off the fundraising campaign on Brekete Family TV and also called on well-meaning Nigerians to support in ensuring that federal universities students return back to their schools.
