Former African Democratic Party (ADC) presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, has kicked against President Muhammadu Buhari for confering the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on the immediate past Chief Justices of Nigeria, CJN, Ibrahim Tanko.
The president confered the second highest National Honor on the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria at the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Judge of the Federation.
Speaking on Tanko, President Buhari said, “CJN Tanko dealt firmly with the issue of reckless and indiscriminate grant of ex-parte Orders that was assuming serious dimensions.
“History will be kind to [him] for his modest contributions to Nigeria’s Judiciary, the strengthening of our democracy.”
Reacting to the Presidential action, Mr. Kingsley said he wasn’t quite certain what qualifies the former CJN for that degree of honour stating that his tenure was undistinguished.
“I’m not exactly certain what qualifies our recently retired Chief Justice of Nigeria Tanko Muhammad for the very high national Honour of GCON.
“The man retired under a cloud. His tenure was spectacularly undistinguished. Nigeria’s judiciary is corrupt and needs to be cleaned up
