The Islamic State in West Africa Province has claimed responsibility for the attack on Kuje Prison where inmates were freed in Abuja.
The terror group released a video which showed them shooting randomly on entering the premises of the correctional facility before proceeding to let loose some of the inmates, especially those who were convicted for terrorism under the umbrella of the Boko Haram.
The hit which occurred on Tuesday night has been reported to have claimed the life of four inmates, and an officer on duty.
879 inmates escaped during the attack.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Correctional Service has said that out of the 879 inmates that escaped during the attack, 551 inmates have been recaptured while 443 inmates are still at large.
