Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labor and employment, has stated that the government will not permit the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to subject it to additional debt.
During an interview with “Politics Today” on Channels TV on Friday, Keyamo made this claim.
He claimed that the federal government had tried everything to broker a cease-fire but that the striking ASUU members were deaf to its pleas.
According to Keyamo, ASUU disregarded opportunities for conversation with significant parties who control the federal government’s budget.
The minister claimed that because other organizations are also receiving funding from the federal government coffers, the government cannot operate at capacity.
ASUU had commenced strike on February 14, and other unions also joined them over the alleged inability of the Federal Government to meet up with their demands
