The Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has been referred to as an inspiration to many by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President and All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for governor of Delta State.
Omo-Agege praised the royal father in a statement for his contributions to fostering national cohesion and enhancing Nigerian cultural values.
He emphasized that traditional leaders can inspire all Nigerians to work for peace, stability, and national advancement because they are the keepers of the nation’s traditions, values, and customs. He urged them to make the most of their position of power to advance good governance and bolster national cohesion.
He said: “I humbly join our good people to thank God Almighty for graciously keeping you in good health and sound mind to celebrate your First Coronation Anniversary as the youngest Olu of Warri Kingdom to lead the itsekiri Ethnic Nation in over 500 years.
“Our people deeply cherish Your Majesty’s distinct place of honour as the symbol of the pristine cultural heritage and values of our Itsekiri people. Your special regard for the value of positive human relationships and clear vision of a modern, well-governed and organized society that is driven by the power of godly living, innovation and constructive, mutually respectful and excellent engagements across boundaries endear you to the people in unique ways,” he said.
Mr. Friday Osanebi, Omeni Sobotie, the chairman of the Delta APC, and other party leaders joined Omo-Agege to the event.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, former governor James Ibori, speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Sheriff Oborevwori, and senator James Manager, among others, attended the thanksgiving ceremony at Foursquare Gospel Church, which is located in the Olu’s Palace in the state’s Warri South council.
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, a former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), emphasized the importance of giving thanks to God constantly in his sermon.
The preacher called on governments at all levels to empower youths to safeguard the nation’s future while also urging youths in the nation to adopt a culture of hard work and dedication to service.
He said: “Without thanksgiving, you have no access to God. Thanksgiving opens the gate. It brings you into the presence of God. If you are not grateful, you may become a ‘great fool.”
