The 21-year-old reportedly has a huge €120m (£100m) release clause in his Benfica contract and has scored 22 goals in 71 appearances for his current employers.
He is a product of Benfica’s academy and has already netted four times in six league appearances this season, and it looks as if Ramos is on United’s radar.
The Sun posted a story on Monday regarding United and Ramos, claiming that the Red Devils have now made contact with the player’s representatives.
The report adds that United chiefs are plotting a £25m swoop to bolster Erik ten Hag’s attacking ranks, with Bayern Munich also eyeing Ramos.
Ramos is tagged by North East broadcaster Andy Sixsmith as ‘brilliant in the air’.
