The Super Eagles of Nigeria will today lock horns with the Desert Foxes of Algeria in a highly anticipated international friendly after both teams missed out of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The match which is scheduled for 8pm BST will be played at the Oran Olympic Stadium in Algeria.
Nigeria will play without their star defender, William Troost-Ekong and the midfield mastero, Wilfried Ndidi who are left out of Nigeria’s squad due to injury.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi and Lorient star Terem Moffi are the chief contenders to partner Victor Osimhen in attack with Peseiro likely to go with a 4-4-2 formation.
Head to head history and results of both teams together have shown that Algeria have won their last three meetings with the Super Eagles, with Algeria winning 9 times, Nigeria winning 3 times and 3 draws.
The both teams will use this international friendly as a buildup to the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Thus, with little to play for other than pride, we expect goals to come in and possibly a first draw in almost three decades between these two teams.
