According to Al-Jazeera, the former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan was shot in the leg on Thursday while conducting a rally in Wazirabad.
Azhar Mashwani, a representative for Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, stated that Khan had been shot in the leg but was not in imminent danger.
However, Mashwani disclosed that six people, including another lawmaker named Faisal Javed Khan, were also apparently injured in the incident.
Khan was transported to a hospital in Lahore after spearheading a protest march to the capital, Islamabad, seeking early elections.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the identity of the gunman, who was captured by police at the scene, has not been disclosed.
