Antony DeLuca, a Pennsylvania lawmaker who died of cancer last month, has won by a landslide in the ongoing midterm elections in the United States.
According to the reports, DeLuca, who died of lymphoma on October 9 at the age of 85, represented a Pittsburgh suburb in the state legislature’s lower house as a Democrat.
The legislator’s passing occurred too late for his name to be removed from the ballot for Tuesday’s nationwide US legislative elections.

With 86 percent of the votes out of 98 percent of the total votes counted, DeLuca retained his seat.
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party reacting, stated “While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by reelecting him posthumously,”
However, a special election will now be held to determine who will ultimately fill DeLuca’s seat.
