Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Ukraine, and pledged £50 million in defense assistance to the war-torn nation.
Their encounter was the first since Sunak became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and he described being in the nation’s capital as “very humbling.”
Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been the closest allies, according to Zelensky.
According to reports, the purpose of the defense aid package would be to fight Russian air raids.

The £50 million in defense help includes 125 anti-aircraft guns and technologies to fight lethal drones given by Iran, including dozens of radars and anti-drone electronic warfare capability.
Sunak also disclosed that the United Kingdom will expand its training program for Ukraine’s armed forces by deploying army medics and engineers to the region to provide specialized support.
It follows the announcement earlier this month by UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace of more than 1,000 additional anti-air missiles.
