Manchester United and Portuguese hitman, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to depart Manchester United on a mutual agreement with an immediate effect after the explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
This was disclosed via a short statement issued by the club on Tuesday evening, stating that mutual agreement has been met between the club and the player, and also that his contract has been terminated.
It will be recalled that last week, in an interview series on TalkTV, the 37-year-old had spoken against Manchester United’s coach, Erik ten Hag, while adding that he has no respect for him (Erik ten Hag).
Ronaldo had also expressed his displeasure with the hierarchy of Manchester United, saying that the club were in doubts that he missed the preseason because he had to be with his daughter who was ill in the hospital.
A statement from Manchester United read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
On Ronaldo’s part, he confirmed with a statement which read thus: “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.
“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.”
“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”
