Katsina police arrest an alleged ESN member. a 19 years old teenager who is suspected to be a member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) which has been labeled as a terrorist group by the government was paraded by the Katsina State Police Command on Tuesday.
The teenager has been identified as David Eric Uchenna but has also been reported to double as Ibrahim Muhammed.
SP Gambo Isah, the spokesman for the Command, stated that the suspect identified as David Eric Uchenna was apprehended at Kofar Sauri Quarters in the city of Katsina.
SP Gambo also reported that the suspect, a native of Enugu State, claimed to have served under one of the ESN’s leaders, Emenike (aka SAPALE) and that they have over 400 members in their camp in Akpogozie woodland in Orji River LGA.

However, Uchenna claimed he is no longer a member of the feared terrorist network. He said, “Truly, I am no longer with them. In fact, I am on their wanted list.”
Uchenna explained how he arrived in Katsina by saying, “Myself and two others ran to Katsina after we stole the sum of N700,000 from one of the ransom money paid by a kidnapped victim. But they have since fled Katsina for fear of being arrested by the police.

SP Gambo Isah, who paraded the suspect among other suspects, stated that Uchenna, who is strongly suspected to be a kidnapper, confessed that his gang kidnapped someone in Imo state and collected the sum of ten million-naira (10,000, 000:00K) as ransom, but stole the sum of seven hundred thousand from the ransom and escaped to Katsina State, along with two of his allies, Chuckwuemeka and Chinemerem who had since relocated from Katsina State to avoid arrest.
SP Gambo further claimed that the suspect admitted to committing a number of crimes in Nigeria’s northeast, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and other horrific acts.
