THE Chief of Army Staff, General Farouk Yahaya, has been ordered to be arrested and imprisoned for contempt, according to a Federal High Court sitting in Minna, Niger State.
The presiding judge, Justice Halima Abdulmalik, who was the one presiding over the case noted that the order from the court came after a notice was issued to the court in line with Order 42, Rule 10 of the Niger State High Court Civil Procedure 2018.
According to the ruling of the court, the Chief of Army Staff shall remain in the Minna Correctional Center for contentions of the order of the court that was issued on Wednesday, 12th October, 2022.
Meanwhile, General Farouk Yahaya is expected to remain in the correctional center until he has been cleared of the contempt.
Justice Abdulmalik also added that Major General Olugbenga Olabanji, who is the Commandant Training and Doctrine Command in Minna, will also be arrested and imprisoned over a similar offense.
The case was then adjourned to Thursday, 8th December by Justice Abdulmalik.
