THE Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has commended members of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), who work hard in the representation of the citizens.
VP Osinbajo made this commendation on Monday, when he represented and received on behalf of President Buhari, the Annual Report of the Police Service Commission (PSC), from the Acting Chairman, Rtd. Justice Clara Ogunbiyi at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
VP Osinbajo said that “Everywhere in the world, a police force is a representative of the people and the government such that there is a need to give it an ethos that will be admired by all.”
He also added that “in many ways, the first line of civil authority and in any country, it is a representative of the people.”
While speaking on how credible the police force should be, VP Osinbajo said: “For many reasons, people regard the performance of the police as the performance of the government,” therefore “the force must be diligent in how it carries out its function.”
Presentation of the Annual Report in accordance with Section 17 of the Police Service Commission (Establishment) Act 2001, was also presented by the Police Service Commission to the Vice President on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari.
