THE presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the general elections, Peter Obi, has promised Nigerians that if he is voted president in the forthcoming general elections, that he will increase the minimum wage, even as he will give more concentration to production over consumption.
The LP presidential flagbearer made this promise during LP presidential campaign rally at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the minimum wage at the rally, Obi promised that “We want to make sure that we would remove Nigeria from consumption to production. When the TUC former president was talking to you, he told you about minimum wage. We will ensure that those who are being owed, we would work with state and local governments to clear their outstanding.”

He also added that “We would make sure that we will work with them and when we start production, we would start thinking of how to increase the minimum wage.”
While speaking on his plans to ensure that Nigeria is secure, the former Anambra governor said: “What we are going to do: the number one job is to secure Nigeria. We want to make Nigeria safe. We want to be able to unite Nigeria.”
