A 2007 letter written by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party has surfaced online with the contents expressing his rejection of plots of land allocated to him in Anambra State.
In the letter he made it clear that he had no sense of entitlement even though he served as a governor which he considered to be a privilege sponsored by the grace of God.
On the bases that he became governor by the grace of God, Mr. Obi said that it will be wrong for him to profit from it.
The allocated plots were Plot 29/L255 and Plot 29/1254-at the Hill View Estate, Nkwelle-Ezenaka.
In the trending letter, Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, said that he became governor by the grace of God and therefore it was wrong for him to profit from it.
The letter partly read, “However, as I have made abundantly clear, my being the Governor is by the Grace of God and I believe firmly that it is wrong to
“benefit from that. I became the Governor because I wish to serve my people, and to do that devotedly, I believe I have to distance myself from undue privileges of the office.
“Consequently, as I thank you for your thoughtfulness, I wish to decline the allocation based on the
“reasons already adduced.”
