Reuben Fasoranti, the national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political group Afenifere, congratulated Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, on reaching his 50th birthday on Tuesday. He also called on the federal government to repair federal roads in the South-West region.
He revealed this when the organization’s chieftains visited Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, under the direction of one of its leaders, Femi Okunrounmu.
In a statement released in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, by the organization’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, Fasoranti referred to the leading monarch as the “physical and visible symbol of the progenitor of Yoruba people.”

The Ooni of Ife, our royal father, said that it “is right and proper that we come to celebrate with him to renew the bond of old and to confirm that Afenifere remains faithful to its original tenets.”The pan-Yoruba group established the Afenifere Elders Caucus and abolished the positions of Acting Leader and Deputy Leader early this year as a sign of its renewed commitment to its fundamental mission. The Afenifere leader urged the federal government to give some other important roads in the South-West immediate attention, even as he praised the government for its renewed efforts to finish restoring the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Ibadan-Ogbomoso-Ilorin, Ife-Akure, Akure-Owo, Ado-Ekiti-Ilesa, and Ibadan-Abeokuta are a few of the roads.
Oba Eniitan responded by expressing his sincere gratitude to the Afenifere delegation.
He claimed to be especially happy and “extremely honored” that the top Yoruba organization’s leadership felt it was appropriate to pay him a visit on his 50th birthday.
“I feel incredibly honored. One of my favorite days will always be today. He said that at the age of fifty, he gave thanks to the Almighty God and declared his renewed resolve to further serve Yorubaland. Afenifere leaders were cautioned by the Arole Oodua not to abandon the President.
