With respect to the presidential election, Plans have been concluded by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to kick off its campaigns on Monday with the Women’s Presidential Campaign Team inauguration.
The formal installation of its various committee members would take place on Monday at the Presidential Villa, according to APC. The All Progressive Congress made this known through the organizing committee of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team.
The grand sponsor of the women’s wing of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Team was revealed last week to be Aisha Buhari, the first lady of Nigeria.
Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a three-term senator from Lagos Central and a former first lady of Lagos State, and Nana Shettima, the wife of the vice-presidential candidate and a former first lady of Borno State, will serve as chairman and co-chairman, respectively.

Positive responses to the introduction of the women’s campaign team have been received from all corners of Nigeria, with many citizens wondering why other parties are not exerting comparable efforts to mainstream gender in their own presidential campaigns.
Others have pointed out that the APC’s women’s campaign team, which consists of over 1,200 women recruited from all over the nation, further strengthens the party’s reputation for being gender-sensitive because the APC is the only major political party to be running a female candidate for governor in the 2023 election cycle.
Party sources stated that there will be activities at the national, zonal, and state levels and that the women’s campaign team will have some autonomy and be able to plan its own programs.
“Efforts are also reportedly ongoing to rally the thousands of women-focused support groups affiliated with the APC for a nationwide mass mobilization project,” the source stated.
