The Android 15 Developer Preview for Google Pixel Smartphones Said to Arrive on February 15. This week could see the introduction of Android 15. A remark on a post on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) suggests that Thursday is most likely when the Android 15 Developer preview will be released.
The remark also hinted at the possibility of calling Google’s upcoming smartphone operating system (OS) Android V. This validates previous reports indicating that the company’s developers had assigned Vanilla Ice Cream as its internal codename. Although the specifications of Android 15 have not yet been revealed, some of them have lately surfaced online.
9to5Google discovered an AOSP commit page containing a recent comment made by a user with an email address registered with Google.com, Misha Kulaha. “Perhaps it makes sense to wait until Android V is available?” Kulaha remarked. The first developer preview is slated to launch on February 15.
The first glimpse at Android 15 was shown last week with the release of the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 update. The publication said that the emblem was not the same as the well-known circular insignia featuring an inverted Bugdroid. The words Android 14 were absent, and the logo manifested as an inverted triangle. Some have deduced that it represents a V shape, which may indicate the release of Android V.

The Android 15 Developer preview is expected to emerge within a week of the last Android 14 quarterly platform release beta update if Kulaha’s information is accurate. Additionally, the time will coincide with the February 8 release of Google’s initial preview of Android 14. Considering Google’s release history, compatible Pixel smartphones ought to be able to receive the update. When the public betas of Android 15 are released in the upcoming months, it’s possible that other smartphones will be able to use it as well.
Although there is little information available about the features that Android 15 might have, a previous rumor said that Google was working on bringing support for Auracast—a function that makes use of the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) standard and lets users broadcast audio to neighboring compatible devices—to the device. The return of lock screen widgets, which will at last enable users to access some features of compatible apps without unlocking their phones, is another feature that has been rumored.
