As many Nigerians both home and abroad openly condemn the killing of worshippers at the Owo community Catholic church, Ondo State, some elder statesmen and top political personalities have decided to join the bandwagon and display their sore displeasure on the act and occurrence.
Indeed Nigerians seek a better and safe living environment. Questions are being asked, minds are being expressed and emotions are at an all-time high and it doesn’t seem like our political leaders feel any different in this situation according to their tweets.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have openly and strongly condemned the acts that led to the loss of lives and left families mourning.
ATIKU ABUBAKAR
As against his earlier response on the killing of a young lady in Sokoto due to religious related violence the PDP presidential candidate has openly condemned the acts through his tweet.
He said “I condemn the attack on the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Sreet, in Owo council area of Ondo State capital”
He ended the tweet with an expression of his sympathy to the people of Owo and the bereaved families.
He said “My prayers are with the people of Owo, especially families of the deceased”.
BOLA TINUBU
Also, the All Progressive Congress presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu has taken to social media to also express his condemnation of the act by the gunmen.
He said “I strongly condemn the evil and brutal attack thst took place at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa, Ondo State, this morning. I pray healing and comfort for the injured and the bereaved”.
PETER OBI
Not left out is the Labour Party flag bearer and presidential aspirant Peter Obi who has taken to social media too to also express his displeasure.
In his tweet he stated that Nigeria is almost a failed state and is in dire need of saving.
He said “What happened in Owo today again adds to my position that our country is fast becoming a failed state. All must now join hands in saving our country from this existential situation we find ourselves today”
He also expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and urged the government both at the federal and state level to whatever it takes to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
He said “I sympathize with the victims’ families, the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, the people and the Government of Ondo State. I urge the Federal Government an Ondo State Government to do whatever is possible to ensure that perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to book”
