Dele Farotimi, a human rights lawyer and activist, has been summoned to an Ekiti State Magistrate’s Court.
Farotimi was arrested by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command in Lagos on Tuesday and brought before the court at about 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to reports, the activist lawyer is charged with 16 counts of defamation against Aare Afe Babalola SAN, a prominent figure in the legal profession and founder of Afe Babalola University.He was accused of defaming and slandering the character of Afe Babalola in his recently published book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
