Discord cuts 4% of staff as part of company reorganization – As part of its reorganization efforts, Discord has reportedly let go of around 40 of its employees which accounts for 4% of the company’s current workforce.
Several former employees of Discord took to Twitter ( now X) and LinkedIn to say that they were impacted by the layoffs. People on the marketing, design, and entertainment partnership teams have been affected by the job layoffs.
Discord issued a statement to Business Insider confirming the situation and emphasizing its commitment to long-term growth.
“Discord can confirm that approximately 4% of our team have been let go as part of the reorganization of some business units, and we are ensuring that those impacted are being supported. We are focused on the long-term growth of the business and delivering on our mission,” a spokesperson for the company told the publication.

Discord rolled out a Family Center as an opt-in tool last month to give parents and guardians more information about what their kids are doing on the app. Additionally, the business unveiled a function that enables users to instantly stream Xbox games to servers and DMs. Users can now ask Discord’s Clyde bot for advice during a group chat by using OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, which was added to the bot in March.
Investment company Fidelity increased the value of some of its holdings last week, including Reddit and Discord. This was an improvement over June, when Fidelity reduced the value of its Discord shares to $1.7 million, a decrease of 47% from the $3.3 million initial investment made in 2021.
