Amazon has declared intentions to invade the Nigerian e-commerce space in the coming year as it plans to make its grand entrance in April 2023.
The launch of amazon in the Nigerian e-commerce market will make the market a bit boisterous if I must dare to say for reigning e-commerce giants Konga and Jumia.
Reports by Business Insider have revealed that amazon is planning an expansion which will cover five countries across Africa, Europe, and South America.
Amazon is currently present and running in 20 different countries while it maintains its headquarters in the United States of America.
The five countries expecting the amazon goody train are, Nigeria, South Africa, Belgium, Colombia, and Chile.
Certainly, this piece of information is perceived to be raising an alarm in the e-commerce camp of already existing national giants across the five countries, with Nigerian e-commerce giants already preparing for the big entrance in 2023.
According to Business Insider, the launch months are already set for all five countries with different codenames.
The Nigerian and South African project is codenamed project Fela and is scheduled to be launched April and February, respectively.
The Chile and Colombia project is codenamed Salsa and are both scheduled to launch in April and February, respectively.
And the Belgium project which is codenamed project Red Devil, has been billed to launch in late September 2023.
