Grok will be available to Premium+ members on Web, iOS, and Android over the next week, according to an early Friday announcement from X. Users in the US will be the only ones able to use the AI chatbot at first; xAI did not provide an estimated timeframe for a wider deployment. Grok is available through the side menu of the redesigned X app for iOS and Android as well as the Web version of X. For easier access, users can also add it to the app’s bottom menu by going to Premium > Preferences > Extras > Custom Navigation.

The announcement post on X states that a user’s access to Grok increases with the length of time they have been a Premium+ subscriber. A user of X has even requested that the chatbot burn Musk based on his X posts. Users have already begun sharing screenshots of their conversations with the new chatbot. Additionally, Grok feels at ease responding to “spicy” queries and making jokes about the user. “Roast me Grok” is one of the chatbot’s default prompt options.
Musk stated last month that his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, would have a standalone app as well as be integrated into his social networking platform, X. Musk describes xAI on his blog as a “maximum truth-seeking AI” that is different from OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. Musk had stated at the time that “Grok has real-time access to info via the X platform, which is a massive advantage over other models.”

The chatbot can create conversational answers to questions, engage in debates on hot-button issues, and retrieve real-time information via X. Grok-1, a massive language model that has undergone multiple revisions over time, powers the chatbot.
