The family of George Floyd has announced preparations to sue Kanye West for alleging that Floyd’s death beneath the knee of a Minnesota police officer was actually a fentanyl overdose.
During an interview on the Drink Champs podcast on Sunday, according to the New York Post, West, whose legal name has been changed to Ye, continued his ongoing spree of inflammatory words amid his antisemitism and “White Lives Matter” criticism.
West spoke with Drink Champs hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN about watching Candace Owens’ new documentary, ‘The Greatest Lie Ever Sold,’ which claimed Floyd died as a result of taking fentanyl, a potent synthetic opiate used as a painkiller. “They hit Floyd with the fentanyl, If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that, they said he screamed for his mama; mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary” he said.

In response to the claimed charge, civil rights attorney Lee Merritt revealed on Twitter late Sunday that the deceased’s family is preparing a lawsuit against Kanye for making false statements. He wrote, “Members of the Floyd family contacted me distraught over the reprehensible remarks”
“While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death.”
“Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl, not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.”
On October 12, Candace Owens finally published her scathing documentary, which purportedly shows some alarming facts about the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.
In his latest video, The Greatest Lie Ever Sold, the outspoken pundit tells the story of George Floyd, a Black man who died in May 2020 while being restrained by then-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. His death provoked worldwide protests and discussions regarding racial injustice and police violence.
Floyd’s death sparked widespread outcry as a video leaked online showing Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes while he begged for air.
