Google Chrome Gets Material You Redesign, New Security Features – Google Chrome is receiving a new look to celebrate its 15th birthday. The world’s most popular browser is also gaining new features to improve user security. The app has been revamped in a Material You theme, with configurable color palettes, a redesigned Chrome Web Store with AI-powered extensions, and improved Safe Browsing, which will automatically identify risky sites and files. Google will also make web browsing more convenient by allowing users to pin the Google Search side panel to the toolbar.
Google said in a recent blog post that Chrome will receive a desktop revamp in the near future. The upgrade will include updated icons with increased legibility as well as new color palettes that sync with open tabs and the toolbar. According to the tech giant, these new themes and color palettes will let users distinguish distinct profiles at a look. Google will also introduce a more complete menu with quick access to Chrome addons.
As part of the current update, the Chrome Web Store has also been overhauled. Users will see a new section for extensions driven by artificial intelligence. Google has also included a section for Editors’ choices.

Furthermore, Google is launching new search tools that will make online browsing more convenient for users. The update will make it easier to identify similar searches, view the source of a page, and do another search from the Google Search side panel. This is accessible by tapping on the three-dot menu. The Google Search side panel can even be pinned to the toolbar.
Chrome will also receive an important security update, allowing it to automatically identify hazardous pages or files. Chrome previously checked every site visited by users every 30-60 minutes. However, with the new security upgrade, every webpage will be examined and warned in real-time, protecting users from harmful websites that only live for a limited time. Google believes that this upgrade would boost malware and phishing threat protection by 25% over the previous version of Safe Browsing.
