Google Chrome to Get Generative AI Features, will help organize tabs and customize the browser experience.
Google has introduced new generative artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Google Chrome browser. These capabilities will be available on Chrome for Mac and Windows PCs, and the company has begun adding them with the current Chrome release (M121).
Currently, two new AI functions have been implemented in the browser, with a third one planned for next month. The two additions will allow users to modify Google Chrome themes and arrange opened tabs. These will be launched under the Experimental AI label, and due to them being early public experiments, they are not being added to enterprise and educational accounts.
The new AI tools were revealed by Google in a post where it noted that these features were targeted at boosting the productivity of the users while making the browser experience more customized. The new features include a Tab organizer, unique themes, and Writing assistance. These features are currently limited to the US but they will be offered to other areas soon.

To enable these features, users will need to connect to their Google account, Go to Settings from the three-dotted menu on the upper right, and then browse to the Experimental AI page. There, users will notice an option to turn on AI functions.
Tab Organiser
As per Google, these AI-powered features will automatically build tab groups based on opened tabs, and organize the browser for the user. This is targeted toward users who keep a large number of tabs open and find manual tab grouping a hassle.
To use this feature, users can right-click on a tab and select Organise Similar Tabs. Alternatively, users can click on the drop-down menu on the upper left, and then click on the Organise tabs option. It will manually suggest tabs to be grouped, and a name and emoji for it, which the user can edit manually.
Custom themes
Based on the same AI text-to-image diffusion model, the custom themes functionality was first introduced on Android 14 devices, beginning with the Google Pixel 8 series. Users can create custom themes for the Google Chrome browser with this feature. The procedure of generating images doesn’t require the user to be skilled at creating prompts.
Users can click on the Customize Chrome side panel, select Change theme, and then select the Create with AI option to utilize this capability. The panel features two distinct options for adding style details, a drop-down menu for selecting a theme, and a color selection option to create a custom theme. When you click Create, six images will appear for you to select from.
Writing help
Although users in the US can already access the aforementioned features, an additional feature is scheduled to launch the following month. Similar to Google Bard, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and even Google SGE (Search Generative Experience), writing assistance is essentially an AI-powered text-generation tool. Google claims that the AI writing assistant would assist customers in creating reviews for businesses, sending out invitations to events, or submitting inquiries on websites.
Any Google Chrome page will include a text box with access to the capability. All users have to do is right-click and choose “Help Me Write.” This will cause a new text box to appear. The program will create the text whenever the user types a few words expressing what they wish to communicate. It will be possible for users to alter the text’s length and tone.
