Google Photos to Get Support for Ultra HDR Image Format With Android 14: Report – According to reports, Google Photos will support the Ultra HDR image format. The feature was recently discovered in the Google Photos app’s code strings (version 51.0.561138754). If this occurs, the picture quality will significantly improve. This feature is said to provide far more brightness and shadow information than regular Jpeg files. The app has previously claimed that Google One customers would receive an HDR effect for videos as well as a Magic Eraser tool.
A few code strings linked to the Ultra HDR image format were discovered in Google Photos version 6.51.0.561138754, according to a report by Android Police through @AssembleDebug. The feature was supposedly released in late August. Ultra HDR disabled, UltraHdrPreviewFragment, EDITOR_ULTRA_HDR_PREVIEW, and photos_mediadetails_details_ultra_hdr are the code strings. As a result, Google is expected to add Ultra HDR compatibility to the Photos app in Android 14.

In February of this year, Google announced the availability of an HDR effect for videos to Google One customers. According to the description, this feature allows users to boost the brightness and contrast of their videos, providing a dramatic impression. In addition, Google Photos now supports Magic Eraser for all Google One subscribers. The Magic Eraser is a picture editing feature that uses machine learning and AI to assist users in removing undesired objects and people from photos.
Previously, without a subscription, the feature was only available on Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 series smartphones. A new set of collage editor styles has also been added to the Google Photos app. Users can apply styles to a single photo in a collage.
