Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center, has denied allegations related to real estate fraud and money laundering, saying the claims are baseless and misleading.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Idowu was detained by officials of the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja for his alleged involvement in a real estate scam.
A police source claimed that “Pastor Bolaji Idowu, popular for his ‘Next Level Prayer,’ is under investigation for alleged real estate fraud and money laundering.
Furthermore, the cleric is said to have regained his freedom following the intervention of prominent Christian leaders. However, on Wednesday, during the Next Level Prayer, the church’s morning prayer, Idowu denied the allegations and affirmed that he has no property in Nigeria and has not bought or sold any property. The only property in Nigeria was bequeathed to me. Therefore, I have no property in Nigeria.
Idowu also refuted claims that billions of naira flowed into his bank account as part of the alleged scheme, insisting that his financial records were transparent and open to scrutiny.Someone told me that billions were transferred to my account. My account is public. My account is public, and you can check to see if I have ever received billions.
The pastor admitted that he was shocked by the allegations and, like most people, learned about them through the media.
He said, “I am reading them as you are reading them.”
