Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is supposedly the first two-disc PS5 game.
The main game, it’s Burning Shores expansion, and some more digital content total 121GB and will be available on the two CDs included in the physical edition, according to a picture released by the ‘Does it play?’ Twitter account.
The game will be released on Friday, October 6, beating out the impending Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, which was also going to be released on two discs. This decision is a significant gain for console users who value physical media, or more specifically, the freedom to access games whenever and wherever they choose without being constrained by the need for a continual internet connection.

The heavy new edition costs $59.99 and comes with a digital artbook for Horizon Forbidden West, a digital soundtrack for Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1, a digital comic book for The Sunhawk, some additional poses and makeup options for the photo mode, and some unlockable outfits. All of this is included in the acclaimed 2022 RPG, which follows the exploits of young huntress Aloy as she travels over a magnificent post-apocalyptic frontier in an effort to save humanity from a contagious crimson blight. Additionally, the April release of the Burning Shores expansion transformed Los Angeles into a volcanic archipelago and added new hunting tools.
Though sometime in early 2024, Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition will also be released on PC. This project has been given to Nixxes Software, PlayStation’s in-house porters who also worked on Spider-Man Remastered for PC. The release will indeed feature all of the aforementioned added content. There is currently no information available regarding PC-only capabilities, but based on previous ports, we may anticipate seeing keyboard and mouse compatibility, support for ray-tracing, Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR-based upscaling technology, as well as the ability to enjoy the game’s breathtaking panoramas on ultra-wide displays. When utilizing the PS5 DualSense controller via a wired connection, this improves the haptic sensation.
Right now, it seems like PlayStation will continue to honor CEO Jim Ryan’s commitment to make PS exclusives available on PC two or three years after their initial release. Only time will tell if this changes once he retires in March of the following year. The franchise as a whole, which includes the precursor Horizon Zero Dawn, its Frozen Wilds DLC, and the PS VR2 game, sold 32.7 million copies in May, according to developer Guerilla Games, who also stated that Horizon Forbidden West sold 8.4 million copies across PS4 and PS5. The development team stated at the time that a sequel would feature more of Aloy’s exploits.
The PS5 game Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition debuts on October 6.
