The Labour Party has announced that the party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi will be announcing his running mate.
The party made this announcement vis their social media platform on Twitter on Friday.
The tweet states “IMPORTANT UPDATES:Before Friday, June 17, 2022, H.E Peter Obi will select his vice. Be the first to know!”
Although there has been no clue yet as to who the candidates possible running mate may be, Nigerians are just waiting and hoping for the best from the party and candidate.
This action is believed to be taken as the party makes effort to obey to the laid down rules set by INEC, beat the deadline set by INEC for the submission of the names of candidates and their running mates.
INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this clear on Friday, as he advised political parties to adhere to the deadline for submission of candidate nomination for 2023 general elections.
Yakubu gave the advice when he visited the venue of the training organised by the commission for political party officials.
He said that the online submission of nomination forms EC9A, 9B, 9C, 9D and 9E for national elections – presidential and national assembly would start from June 10 and end June 17.
Yakubu added that the dates for the submission of nomination forms for state elections – governorship and state assembly remained between July 1 and July 15.
