Not less than twenty terrorists of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) have been killed by a 25-man troop Task Force Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai in Damboa, Borno State.
According to verified reports, the terrorists are said to have embarked on an attack which proved abortive, many hours after they committed their allegiance to the new ISIS “caliph”, Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi.
It was during this attack that were entrapped and overpowered by the Nigerian troops.
Also, the terrorists are said to be involved in the attack that occured in Wajiroko town. Zagazola Makama, a security analysis and expert in Counter-Insurgency in Lake confirmed the arrest of the terrorists.
According to the source, it was disclosed that “the resilient troops stood their grounds and engaged the terrorists in a heavy gun battle which lasted for about 40 minutes.”
“The terrorists were eventually forced to flee the scene after suffering many fatalities.
Some of the items which were recovered from the terrorists are: 1 FN rifle, 2 FN magazines,1 RPG tube, 2 AK 47 rifles, 1 36 hand grenade, 2 RPG bombs,20 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, amongst others.
