The United Kingdom (UK) has announced Liz Truss as the new Prime Minister after defeating Rishi Sunak on Monday, taking over from the former prime minister, Boris Johnson.
The election, was a closer tackle the Conservative Party Leader, Truss taking 57% of the valid votes.
Truss had 81,326 votes against her rival, former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak who had 60,399 votes.

While speaking at a conference centre in Westminster, Truss expressed her gratitude to Sunak for a “hard-fought campaign” and promised to deliver a “bold plan.”
Truss will he inaugurated as the prime minister on Tuesday after her travel to meet the Queen at Balmoral in Scotland.
The prime minister-elect is the current Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
