The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, on Thursday in Abuja, decried the state of insecurity, unemployment and poverty in the country during the Labour Party & The Coalition For Peter Obi Leadership Summit.
Abure who lamented that the country is in disarray and at the brink of collapse regretted that “nothing is working and the country has degenerated to the point that aircraft and trains are being attacked with Insecurity ravaging the country.”
Addressing an audience at the Labour Party & The Coalition For Peter Obi Leadership Summit, Abure bemoaned that Nigerians are not asking for anything but security. But there’s hunger, poverty and high unemployment leading to insecurity.”
He cautioned that history has “thrust upon the party the responsibility to rescue the country from years of mismanagement and bad governance,” adding that LP is poised to rescue the country.
He further stressed that the results of the 2023 presidential elections will shock those who criticise the party for not having nationwide structures.
Abure called on the Coalition of Support Groups to be organized and return to polling units, wards and local government areas and canvass support for the LP candidate, noting that politics is grassroots and not centred in urban centres.
He assured that the party has commenced realigning support groups along party structures, as he disclosed that the opposition “party is open to all even to those who want to keep their identities, yet support the party.”
