Man loses hand to hoodlums in Niger State. A group of hoodlums have brutally stabbed a man, identified as Abdul Mutalib, to death in Minna, Niger State, after attempting to snatch his phone.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened on Sunday night at around eight o’clock along Old Secretariat Road. Abdulmutalib, who is thought to be in his early 30s, was approached by the attackers as he was strolling and they demanded his cell phone. One of the attackers fatally stabbed him in the neck with a dagger before he could react.
The phone snatchers were young men, likely in their 20s and teens. They confronted him, demanded his phone, and one of them stabbed him without waiting for an answer. An unidentified eyewitness claimed, “They ran away with his phone, and by the time help arrived, he was already dead.”
Concern over the rise in violent crimes—particularly phone snatching—among Minna residents has grown.
After attempting to take his phone, a group of thugs in Minna, Niger State, fatally stabbed a man known only as Abdul Mutalib.A city resident named Suleiman Kuta bemoaned the inability of the authorities to stop the threat, characterizing the state of affairs as a danger to public safety.
Minna is being overtaken by these thugs. You hear about attacks, phone snatching, and youth dissatisfaction on a daily basis. Nobody appears to be in command when it comes to safety and security issues. Many people are aware of these offenders, but nothing is being done about them. Kuta expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, “The authorities seem powerless.”He went on to denounce the police and the government of Niger State for what appeared to be inaction, and he threatened to declare the Bago administration a security failure if this pattern persisted.
We must begin to inquire as to why the government is ignoring the safety of people and property. The state police command must move quickly to stop the situation from getting out of control in order to save further lives.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, received multiple calls and messages from the people but at first did not answer.
But by Tuesday morning, he had sent a quick reply confirming the occurrence.
After being sent to General Hospital in Minna, the victim’s status was declared as deceased. Abiodun’s message stated, “The case is under investigation, and efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing.”
Citizens have to stay safe, alert and vigilant .
