The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) have said that the only way the party can work with the Labour Party and Mr. Peter Obi, is if Peter Obi, agrees to be Kwankwaso’s vice president.
This was revealed by the NNPP spokesperson Agbo Major, during an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday.
The two parties had announced an ongoing negotiation to come into an alliance ahead of the forthcoming 2023, presidential election.
Mr. Agbo speaking to Arise TV, said “Of the eighteen presidential candidates that have come up at the conclusion of the nomination exercise, I can tell you that His Excellency Mohammed Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso stands out, he stands out, it’s clear”
“This is a man who has affected the lives of people, you go to Kano, and his antecedence speaks for him, his relationship with the ordinary people. One striking thing about him is that he is directly there for the ordinary people and that has stood him out.”
“We have continued to receive calls, people have called to say no, we will not accept that, the only thing we want you to arrive at is a conclusion that peter Obi will be Deputy”
He added that Peter Obi, is a very nice man, but that is the only thing that is acceptable to the NNPP at the moment.
An alliance was the best option for the two parties, given that a merger is not going to be feasible before next year’s election.
They are placed at a merger disadvantage due to the extent INEC laws which will not permit the two party’s forming a merge at this point.
Many supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, had called for the merger, claiming that it will be the only way to give the ruling party APC and their number one contender PDP, a serious fight at the polls.
Peter Obi, followers have strongly kicked against the idea of their front man running as a VP to Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso.
