TWO months to the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, some candidates of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who are contesting for a seat in the Osun State House of Assembly, have announced their plans to organize a campaign rally for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This development was disclosed in a terse statement on Monday by NNPP’s candidate for Ifelodun State Constituency, Muideen Afolabi, which was signed on behalf of the other eights candidates of NNPP, who are contesting for the House of Assembly.
When asked why they decided on such move, Muideen Afolabi said that no campaigns have been organized by the party for the presidential candidate of NNPP, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other candidates of the party, even with two months left for the general elections.
Meanwhile, Mr Afolabi also noted that plans for a door-to-door campaign for APC’s Tinubu has been ongoing by the NNPP candidates.
Mr Afolabi said that: “in collaboration with other National Assembly candidates who earlier dumped Kwankwaso, nine of us, House of Assembly candidates are set to organize a mega rally for Tinubu where masses of Osun would be convinced on why they should support him.
“Less than 2 months to the 2023 polls, NNPP has not been campaigning for the presidential candidate of the party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and other candidates contesting the poll in Osun. We can’t wait any longer.
“We commend Secretary, Tinubu/Shetimma Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for always giving them listening ears and for embarrassing us, having discovered our ability to deliver Osun for Tinubu.”
