FOUR months from now, Africa will be witnessing one of the biggest elections as Nigerians will be electing their new leaders into their respective offices.
The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has assured Nigerians that the commission will not go back to the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and INEC Election Result Viewing Portal (IReV) during the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
In a tweet on the official Twitter page of INEC on Wednesday, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood said: “Let me once again reassure Nigerians that there is no going back on the deployment of BVAS for voter accreditation. There is no going back on the transmission of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) in real-time on Election Day.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu
INEC Chairman”
The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and INEC Election Result Viewing Portal (IReV) are technological innovations which helps to enhance transparency of election results in Nigeria.
