…. says meeting was more brotherly than political….
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied the reports making rounds that he endorsed Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition, when he visited him in Abeokuta.
Replying to these reports, Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, in a statement on Saturday said the those reports are only rumours emanating from those who claim to be supporters of Tinubu.
Akinyemi said the discussion during the visit was “more brotherly than political.”
He further said that the former President has not approved or disapproved Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
The statement read in part: “Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to me statement I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good.”
Bola Tinubu paid a visit to Former president Obasanjo at Obasanjo’s private penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on Wednesday.
In company with Tinubu for the visit were: two former governors of the state, Olusegun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel; former interim national chairman of APC, Bisi Akande; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; pioneer Chairman of the EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, among others.
