On Friday, Delta Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, urged public office holders to always be genuine in the performance of their duties.
Okowa delivered the charge at Government House, Asaba, during the inauguration of Mr. Eugene Uzum and Mr. Solomon Ebinum as Special Advisors.
As they had been a part of his administration, he expressed joy at their appointment, adding that they should view their promotion as a summons to contribute more to his administration’s Stronger Delta initiative.

“You are not new; you are already used to governance and it is my belief that you will continue to display your vast wealth of experience and stay committed.
“By working with the rest of the team in the executive arm, you should join hands to ensure that we are able to perfect our programs and to deliver the rest of our programs to the people,” Okowa said.
He stated that the primary objective of his administration was to bring the benefits of democracy to Deltans until May 28, 2023, and he reminded all appointees of the necessity to use the remaining months of his administration to build upon the accomplishments achieved in 2015.
“It is my hope that in the course of offering your advice not only to my office but to other persons who are in government, you will not shy away in speaking the truth to power at all times.
“You should do your best to work with the rest of the team to be able to ensure that we finish graciously and that we finish very strong in the course of this administration
“So, l want to welcome you to a higher office in the administration and we expect you to put in your best, working with everybody for us to be able to do that which we had sworn to our people – to develop our state,” he said.
The governor indicated that Uzum and Ebinum were individuals of demonstrated honesty and were capable of performing creditably in whatever tasks assigned to them.
Uzum, speaking on behalf of the new advisers, thanked Governor Okowa for deeming them qualified to serve the state at a higher level and assured that they would do their best in their new roles.
He praised the Governor for being a worthy leader who believed in creating a ladder for his people to ascend, and he assured him of his full support in promoting his administration’s Stronger Delta goal.
Uzum was the Director-General of the State Bureau of Orientation prior to his promotion.
