A young man who is allegedly involved in a gang arrangement that attempted to kill his father, a traditional ruler in the state, has been detained by the police in Ogun State.
The individual allegedly conspired with other suspects to carry out their plot, but fled as six other people were being apprehended.
Oba G. O. Olukunle of Gbokoto land, the traditional monarch, had called the police in a panic to report the presence of suspected criminals in his palace. This led to the arrest.

The police then proceeded to the palace where they saw hoodlums firing intermittently within the building. They then engaged the suspects in a shootout, which resulted in the arrest of the six guys.
The apprehended suspects admitted during questioning that they are members of the Eiye fraternity and that the Oba’s son, who is now at large, solicited them to come and kill his father because of an ongoing conflict the Oba has been experiencing with his mother.
The son of the oba is still at large as of the time of publication, and state police commissioner CP Lanre Bankole has called for a comprehensive manhunt to find him and bring him to justice.
In order to charge the suspects in court, the matter has currently been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a covert investigation.
