The sacked Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Wale Mogaji, has said he will seek the redress of his disengagement through legal means.
Mogaji made this known in a statemen on Thursday, hours after he was sacked, where he alleged that the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, had been running the Commission as a unit of the House.
Mogaji was sacked on Thursday by the LSHA after a voice vote by members of the House at plenary.
His dismissal was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Eromosele Ebhomele. Bb
Reacting to his disengagement, Mogaji accused Obasa of making appointments contrary to the provision of the service rules and alleged that the Speaker obstructs the commission’s activities.
The statement reads, “I heard through the news that the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly sack (sic) my appointment as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Services Commission at the plenary today, 14th July 2022.
“It is very sad that our Democracy has been bastardised with the conduct of those who are supposed to ensure the rule of law and sanctity of justice.
“The Speaker without recourse to the Service rules has been operating the Commission like a Unit of the Assembly.
“Recently, he appointed Mr Onafeko on GL-15 as Clerk of the House whereas, to be appointed as a clerk of the house, you must be a full Director on GL-17.
“Also, today, he appointed another woman, Mrs Latona on GL-15 to be the secretary of the Commission, you must also be a full Director on GL-17.
“These are just a few of the unilateral actions taken by the speaker, he obstructs the activities of the Commission and any attempt to advise on the need for due process he always saw it as an affront.
“However, l will remain steadfast and allow the law to take its course by going to court to seek redress and protect my integrity.”
