Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has responded to the prohibition on film and comedy producers using police uniforms.
According to reports, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, ordered the arrest and prosecution of skit and movie creators who inappropriately wear police uniforms on Sunday.
The development was detailed in a statement released on Sunday by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In response, Mr. Sani, a former governorship candidate of Kaduna State, stated that rather than outlawing the outfit, the police should tax it.
On Monday, Mr. Sani said that the movies could be used to deter crime in a message on his verified Twitter account.
He wrote, “The Police should charge movie producers some fees for using their uniforms rather than stopping them.
“Movies are a powerful and potent medium for fighting crime and public enlightenment”.
