By estimation about 701 students in kaduna state have been prevented from writing in the ongoing 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination. This was after paying 12.61 billion Naira as fees to the examination body.
The students who have been prevented from writing the Senior School Certificate Examination are students gathered from a total of nine secondary schools in Kaduna state, five of which are Government schools and four private schools.
The students were prevented from partaking in the examination because the uploading of their Continuous Assessment, CASS, failed and nothing was done about it before the closure of the examination body’s portal.
Although, WAEC has said that the schools with the affected students were informed of this development and challenge on April 1, giving them time to rectify the issues and sort the students out.
Appeals were made to the WAEC Zonal Coordinator for North West, Mr. Audu Paiku to reopen the portal for the uploading of the CASS was rejected.

WAEC Zonal Coordinator for North West, Mr. Audu Paiku when approached by journalists for more clarity on the affected students recommended the Kaduna State Ministry of Education for further clarity and necessary information.
However, Kaduna State Ministry of Education had in a letter to WAEC National Office through WAEC Zonal Office in Kaduna, on April 12, 2022, through the overseer of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, Aliyu Idris, requested WAEC to reopen the portal to allow the affected students upload their CASS, but the examination board declined their request.
