Governor Godwin Obaseki, has called the attention of the Peoples Democratic Party to the change approaching in the future of politics as people now seek alternatives to the PDP.
Current political trends from supporters and Nigerians has posed a threat to the popular and ruling party APC and their number one contenders, PDP.
The people have recently campaign for a change in how politics is viewed, perceived and practiced, and the campaign aims to shift individuals mentally from partisan politics to personality based politics.
The people say that the two apex predators APC and PDP, have failed them over and over, and this has sparked a mind shift campaign.
Governor Godwin Obaseki, has urged the PDP to make the party more attractive to the people in order to stop the drift away that the party is experiencing at the moment ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He has called the party’s attention to the Obidient campaign that is currently sweeping the net and social media spaces, stating that the people are queing for their PVCs and they’re not even looking in their direction but in the direction of the alternatives.
Mr. Obaseki said “How can PDP, the party; not win? They were not even number two. So, you can see that something is going on and we do not want this to be a trend. The future of our politics in this country is changing.
“I do not know whether you are closely watching what is going on; the level of disenchantment within the parties.
“I am sure in all of our homes now, we have so many people now who call themselves ‘Obidients’. I don’t know whether you have them in your house. Just ask them, ‘Which party are you?’. They say ‘Obidients’, you understand.
“They do not want us; they are not talking about PDP or APC. They are looking for alternatives and they are many. You see all of them queuing for their PVCs (Permanent Voter Cards) now. They are not looking at the direction of PDP or APC now. They are looking for alternatives.
“If we do not curb this, if we do not make our party attractive, I do not know what will happen in the next elections.”
