Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to eradicate bandits and terrorists in Kaduna and other northern regions if elected president.
On Monday, during a visit to the Birnin Gwari Local Government Region of Kaduna State to express his condolences for the constant bandit assaults in the area, Tinubu made the promise.
At the palace of the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Mallam Zubairu Maigwari, Tinubu expressed his condolences to the people of the Emirate for the loss of lives and property caused by years of bandit raids.
He stated that the purpose of his journey to Birnin Gwari was to gain a firsthand understanding of the region’s unique security and socioeconomic concerns, promising to eradicate banditry in the region if elected president.

“I stand before you, sir, to say that there is a good opportunity coming. The election is near,” he said, adding that “we serve them notice again that we will not relent in our efforts to eliminate banditry. I can assure you, that will be our priority.”
The Emir of Birnin Gwari, for his part, praised the APC presidential contender for risking danger to visit the turbulent hamlet, a rare act in his estimation.
Tinubu received the chieftaincy title of Dakare of Birnin Gwari from the Emir as a token of appreciation for being the first presidential contender to visit the bandit-ravaged community.
Tinubu traveled by road to Birnin Gwari under strict security.
The APC presidential candidate was accompanied by his running mate, Kashim Shettima; Governor Nasir El-Rufai; the Director General of the APC presidential campaign and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, the governors of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje; Jigawa, Abubakar Badaru; Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu; and Kaduna, Senator Uba Sani.
